Stonehenge and Roman Baths |
|
|
|
Everyone who comes to England talks about getting to see Stonehenge, a prehistoric temple dating back to
about 1800 b.c. In July the Burk family made a weekend
visit to Salisbury taking in Stonehenge, the Avery Circles (another
prehistoric wonder) and the Roman Baths in Bath, England. Clicking on the images will allow you
to see them in full size. We hope you enjoy... And as always Keep in touch. |

World-Famous Stonehenge, seen here begun 5,000 years ago, its represents one of
the most remarkable achievements of prehistoric engineering. |

|
Anthony and Michele at Stonehenge, which dates back to the New Stone Age
(about 1800 b.c.). Perhaps the most mysterious prehistoric monument in Britain if not The
World. |

What Stonehenge may have looked like 5,000 years ago. This reconstruction show how the monument may have looked after the final phase of its construction c. 1550 b.c. Anthony swears he did not knock it down... |

Just a
photo of me and a old rock at Stonehenge...I only put photos of me in
here because Michele says I must. This stone, the Heel Stone, marks the entrance
to what many believe was a great road leading to the monument. It
also shows the direction of the midsummer sunrise when view from the
circle. |

Our second site to see this weekend was the Roman Bath house of Bath, England.

The Romans used to bath in this bath house thinking it would cure their ills
and to some was almost a religious experience....Anthony said "I'm not getting in that green
water" |

As you would expect along any tourist area your bound to find the most
interesting things...here we found the missing link between ape and
man....gee its my son! |

Behind the Roman Bath House is this wonderful old church...they sure do not build them like they used too. England is a great
place to experience old and different styles of architecture. |
