09 Oct 2003,
a 36 hour adventure was just beginning. On this morning I awoke at 0300 (London time, mind you)
and headed for the airport. One bus ride, two airlines connections and 24+ hours later, 2030
(central time) I touched down in Minnesota. Part 1 of the adventure was
nearly complete with another hour drive before arriving at my In-Laws (Al and Rosie)
and finally a bed to catch some Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.
10 Oct 2003,
0600 came much to early, however Part 2 of the
"T/A adventure" was just getting underway...ahead of us was nearly 900 miles
through three major cities cumulating in 14 hours of travel time. The trip
was great fun catching up with the family news and the fall leaves
turning color along the highway of three states. But two days of hard traveling was getting to me. 2100 hours
came and finally we
were able to bed down for the night. After making contact with
Brett D, and finalizing the pick up details, I was big time ready for some quality sleep
time. In less then 12 hours my eyes and
hands would be on the T/A .
11 Oct 2003,
Upon inspection of the car I found her to be very solid with the
exception of a few little areas that need attention. The T/A was in better
condition then I
had hoped. Al and I spent about three hours inspecting, loading the car and making the pay off. Not only did I get a good deal, but a
truck load worth of extra parts came along; extra
ralley wheels, chrome trim, DC Cam shaft kit and tons of other little items were
the icing on the cake.....Was
it worth it?
While reading the E-bay add, acquiring some history from the T/A
registry (Thanks Barry and Ken), bouncing ideas off my old MOPAR friend Bill E, and talking to Brett I really
got hooked on the unique details of this T/A. Although being one-of-a-kind this T/A had a hard
life. Many of the one- of-a- kind details were still in place; Scat Pack Bee, Dealership decals,
Complete
unmolested six pak, Mostly original paint and Gator grain top made this a solid package.
At first glance the Tan/Brown color did not grab me, but now I'm hooked on
FT6...it is as cool as Pink, Purple and Green. Tell me when was the last time you saw
a Dark Tan Metallic T/A.....my bet is.....you have not!
After three days, thousands of miles, countless sleepless hours and
months of clicking on web pages...I'm now a proud owner of a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A, am I happy?
T/Ake a look at the photos and you tell
me....
