Mini in The Park 2003

August 17 2003

Mini in The Park had been long billed by Mini fans as the one show to go to...it lived up to all expectations.  Weeks before the big event I had heard tales of nearly 2000 Minis showing up from all over the UK.  When the weekend was over, all this hype turned out to be true. MIP2003 started on Saturday departing with a AME caravan of 9 minis  headed to camp out the night before.  Camping Mini style is a show itself, partying people and shinning Minis.

A pit stop along the for fuel and a potty break...we had a blast running down the motor ways

Camping out was half the fun we tipped back a few with AME and other local clubs, found out those kids can hang much longer then us old farts..but who got  to the show first!

Half the fun of going to Mini shows is getting there and this trip was no different

Sunday Morning we awoke to sounds of A series engine being tuned to their big entrance to the "show grounds" although the true show grounds were surrounded by parking areas with to the brim with Minis.  The parking lots here put many an other show to shame with the pure numbers of cars.  If I had to guess I would say only about 1/3 of the total numbers of cars were actually in the show on a club stand....the other show took place in the parking lot. Lucky enough to secure a parking spot on The Mini Register club stand.  These people were great, we had just meet them that morning.  New friend Attila hooked us up even though we never met except over e-mail.  The spirit of Mini Fans...always wanting to help out.

Our Hot Knight Fire Red '71 Convertible "Mickie's Mini"

Our car featured on the Mini Register club stand

Mickie and her Mini, not bad for being nearly 40....and the car too

The sheer size of this show is hard to comprehend, I've been to some pretty big car shows back in the states, The MOPAR Nationals, Spring and Fall Carlise, and MIP2003 ranked right up there.  This is The Mini Show not to miss!  Sept 2004....already marked on my calendar

Did I saw tons and tons of Minis?  Man it was a great day...

Wonderful over head photo, note the circle in the lower right hand corner...that's us!

From one corner to the next tons and tons of people with one thing in common....Love of Mini's

One thing about these large shows, they really bring out the top quality cars.  Every where you looked was a great looking Mini with plenty of new ideas, cool mods or details you just wanted to copy for your pet project.

One of the hot rod mini, note the 16V engine stuff inside

A series Turbo'd Mini...this thing looked liked it would haul...A$$...as they say!

This Mini was like my Union jack (on Boot) but in reverse...

One cool Mini paint treatment....the Mini has been made for 45 years, its to come up with new firsts...but I think this is a hit
